The Himalayan Salamander is an endangered speciesdark in colour and measuring about 160mm-17mm. it is one of the rarest and oldest amphibian creatures found in the hills of Darjeeling.
- DISTRIBUTION : recorded from West Bengal (Darjeeling district ),Sikkim , Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur . Else where found in Nepal ,Myanmar , Thailand and Western china.

- Breeding : April-May.
